Prambanan Temple

Prambanan Temple is extraordinarily beautiful building built in the 10th centuryduring the reign of Rakai Pikatan, two Kings and Rakai Balitung. Soaring up to 47 ft (5 meters higher than Borobudur Temple), the Foundation of this temple has fulfilled thewishes of the author, showing the triumph of Hinduism in Java. The temple is located17 kilometers from the city center, in the middle of the area that is now a beautifulgarden built.

Prambanan Temple has three main temples in the main page, namely Brahma, Vishnu, and Shiva. The third Temple is the epitome of Trimurti in Hindu belief. The thirdTemple is facing East. Each of the main temple has a single accompanying Templefacing to the West, namely Nandini for Shiva, Angsa for Brahma, and Garuda forVishnu. In addition, there are 2 flank temples, Temple 4 kelir temples and 4 cornertemples. Meanwhile, the second page has 224 temples.

Entering Shiva temple which is located in the middle and highest building, you will find 4 pieces of the room. One main room contains Shiva statue, while 3 other roomseach containing a statue of Durga (Shiva’s wife), Agastya (Shiva’s teacher), and Ganesh(son of Shiva). Statue of Durga is touted as a statue of Roro Jonggrang in legend as told above.

In Vishnu Temple is located on the north side of Shiva temple, you will only find one room which contains a statue of Vishnu. Likewise the Brahma Temple is located on the South side of Shiva temple, you will only find one room contains a statue of Brahma.

Accompanying Temple is Garuda Temple is alluring enough that is located near theTemple of Vishnu. This temple keeps a story about the human figure-half bird namedGaruda. Garuda is a mystical bird in Hindu Mythology the Golden-bodied, white-faced,red-beaked, winged and wingless Eagle-like. Estimated, a figure that is an adaptationof the Hindu Bennu (meaning rose ‘ orshining ‘, associated with the God Re) in the mythology of Ancient Egypt or Ancient Greece mythology in Phoenix. Garuda could have saved his mother from the curse of Aruna (Garuda‘s handicapped) by stealingTirta Amerta (the holy water of the gods).

Borobudur Temple

Borobudur is a Buddhist temple located at Borobudur, Magelang, Central Java,Indonesia. The location of the temple is approximately 100 kilometres to the southwest of Semarang, 86 kilometers west of Surakarta, and 40 kilometres northwest of Yogyakarta. Stupa shaped Temple was established by adherents of Mahayana Buddhism circa 800-an Ad during the reign of sailendra dynasty. Borobudur Temple,the biggest Buddhist temple or in the world, as well as one of the largest Buddhistmonument in the world.
The monument comprises six square shape that capped three circular platforms, onthe walls are decorated with 2,672 relief panels and 504 Buddha statues there are.Borobudur Buddhist relief has a collection of the best and largest in the world. The main stupa is the biggest lies in the Middle as well as crowning the building,surrounded by three rows of circular 72 perforated stupas, in which there is a statue of buddha sitting cross-legged in the Lotus position perfect with mudra (hand gesture)Dharmachakra mudra (turning the wheel of dharma).

This monument is a model of the universe and was built as a shrine to glorify theBuddha as well as functioning as a place of pilgrimage to guide the human raceswitched from natural carnal lust towards enlightenment and wisdom according to the teachings of Buddha. The pilgrims enter through the East side start the ritual at the base of the temple with the sacred buildings encircling the running clockwise, while continuing to ascend to the next stair steps through the three levels of BuddhistCosmology in the realm. The third level is the Kāmadhātu (the world of desires),Rupadhatu (realm of intangibles), and Arupadhatu (the world of intangibles). In thisjourney of pilgrims walking through a series of hallways and stairs with witnessed no less than 1,460 panels relief etched on the walls and balustrades.
